About the game
Minesweeper Unlimited — play online for free
Minesweeper Unlimited is the unlimited version of the classic logic puzzle. Here you do not have to wait for tomorrow's board: finish a round and get a new one right away. Open cells, read the numbers and find every mine without blowing up.
The mode is great for practising before the board of the day, passing the time or simply playing as much as you like. No sign-up or download needed — the game runs in your browser on a computer, tablet or phone.

How to play Minesweeper Unlimited
- 1Choose the board size: 8x8, 10x12 or 16x12.
- 2Tap a cell to open it. If there is a mine underneath, the game ends.
- 3Read the numbers, work out where the mines are and mark them with flags. Open every cell without a mine to win.
- 4Finished a round? Start a new one right away — boards without a limit.
What the numbers and icons mean
Number
Shows how many mines are hidden in the neighbouring cells. A 1 means there is exactly one mine nearby.
Flag
Your mark on a cell where you think a mine is hidden.
Mine
Opening a cell with a mine ends the round in a loss.
The number counts all eight cells around it: sides and diagonals. If the number of flags nearby matches the number, the other neighbouring cells are safe.
Difficulty levels
| Mode | Board size | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 8x8 (64 cells) | A quick warm-up and a gentle start for beginners |
| Classic | 10x12 (120 cells) | The familiar Minesweeper format |
| Hard | 16x12 (192 cells) | For experienced players |
How to practise and play without mistakes
- Start with an 8x8 board to learn the logic of the numbers, then move on to 10x12 and 16x12.
- Look for numbers that have exactly as many closed cells around them as there are mines nearby — they are all mines.
- If the right number of flags is already around a number, the other neighbouring cells can be opened safely.
- After a round, recall where you had to take a risk and look for the logical move you missed.
- Practise in Unlimited, then test yourself on the board of the day.

Frequently asked questions about Minesweeper Unlimited
How is Minesweeper Unlimited different from the daily puzzle?
In the daily puzzle there is one board per day for all players. In Unlimited, boards are generated randomly, and after every round you can start a new one without waiting.
How many rounds can I play?
As many as you like. There is no daily limit on the number of games.
What do the numbers on the cells mean?
A number shows how many mines are hidden in the eight neighbouring cells around it. For example, a 1 means there is exactly one mine nearby.
Can boards repeat?
The mine layout is generated randomly, so in rare cases the same board can appear again.
Do I need to sign up?
No. You can play for free and without signing up right in your browser.
